WINE DESCRIPTION
Alain Gras Très Vieilles Vignes Auxey-Duresses is made from very old vines that are about 100 years old. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before being destemmed. Fermentation on the skins lasts for around 2 weeks in temperature-controlled vats. The grapes are gently pressed into oak barrels, of which approximately a fifth are new, to begin maturation. Alain Gras is seeking to lend complexity to the wine by adding layers of subtle oak spice without masking the purity of fruit coming from the very old vine Pinot Noir.
