Kotayk
lthough details of its historical viticulture are still being explored, Kotayk is rapidly gaining recognition for its innovative approach and high-quality wines. Situated just outside the Armenian capital Yerevan, Kotayk is a hub for modern wineries experimenting with new techniques and international grape varietals.
The primary grape varieties grown in Kotayk are indigenous to Armenia, including Areni, Voskehat, and Kangun. Areni, a red grape variety, is particularly well-suited to the region's terroir and is used to produce full-bodied, complex red wines. Voskehat and Kangun, both white grape varieties, are used to create crisp, aromatic white wines. The region also produces some rosé and sparkling wines.
