Codru
Nestled in the heart of Moldova, the Codru PGI region boasts a landscape characterized by a tapestry of valleys, ravines, and rolling hills. Crossed by the Prut and Nistru rivers, its terrain is fragmented yet picturesque. Encompassing the central third of Moldova, this wine designation enjoys a temperate continental climate, with mild winters and sun-drenched summers. Vineyards, spanning altitudes from 150 to 400 meters, thrive on slopes within the 1-10° range, nurtured by the region's fertile soils.
Codru is synonymous with quality white and sparkling wines, with white grape varietals dominating approximately 63% of plantings. Notable among these are Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat Ottonel. Complementing these are red varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. This diversity yields wines characterized by lemon-yellow hues for whites and ruby tones for reds, accompanied by refreshing aromas, pronounced minerality, and vibrant fruitiness, culminating in a palate that celebrates the essence of summer.

Codru harbors a microclimate gem, the Romanesti zone, once the wine-making Imperial colony of the Romanov dynasty.
