Vega
Vega (also known as Incrocio Dalmasso 2/26) is a white Italian grape variety created in 1937 by Giovanni Dalmasso. It is a cross between the Hungarian Furmint and the Croatian Malvazija Istarska, developed at the Istituto Sperimentale per la Viticoltura in the Veneto region. Vega is an early-ripening grape known for its light-colored berries, and it has slowly spread across Italy, with 28 hectares planted as of 2000.
Vega wines are pale straw-colored, slightly aromatic, and often slightly sparkling. They tend to be dry with a light and fresh profile, featuring delicate aromas.
Vega was developed in the Veneto region of northeast Italy and is mainly found there. It represents a small but growing presence in Italian vineyards.
Vega is a relatively recent crossing, and its official synonyms include its breeding codes Dalmasso 2-26, I.
D. 2/26, and Incrocio Dalmasso II/26.
