Solnechnodolinksy
Solnechnodolinksy is a white grape variety originating from Ukraine, specifically cultivated in the Sudak region of Crimea, in the Solnechnaya Dolina (Sun Valley) area. The variety was selected in the late 1960s by P. M. Gramotenko at the Magarach Viticultural Institute. Although its ancestry is unknown, Solnechnodolinksy shares morphological similarities with the local Kapselsky variety. Known for its late maturation and high yields, the grape is predominantly used in blends, often for sweet dessert wines produced in the region.
Solnechnodolinksy grapes produce wines that are typically light and aromatic, with a characteristic balance of sweetness and acidity. These wines are often rich and fruity, making them ideal for dessert wine blends. The profile is dominated by floral and citrus notes, with a hint of honey and subtle tropical fruit flavors, contributing to its smooth, refreshing finish.
Solnechnodolinksy is grown in the Sudak region of Crimea, where it thrives in the warm climate of the Solnechnaya Dolina area. The grape variety has become an important part of the region's wine production, particularly in the creation of sweet, late-harvest blends. Despite its high yield, the variety is not widely planted outside of Crimea, making it a regional specialty.
Solnechnodolinksy's name, which translates to 'Sun Valley', reflects the sunny, warm growing conditions in Crimea that help the grape thrive.
The variety is a product of research at the Magarach Viticultural Institute, a prominent center for viticulture in the region.
