Rieslaner: The Noble German White Rieslaner, a cross between Silvaner x Riesling, is a white grape variety that is highly esteemed in Germany. This noble variety is renowned for its floral aromas and intense flavors.
Rieslaner is a white grape variety that produces light to medium-bodied wines with a pale yellow color. It has a typical aroma of peaches, apricots and fresh apples, as well as subtle notes of honey and rose petals. The taste profile is typically characterized by a balanced acidity and a distinct minerality.
Rieslaner is mainly grown in Germany, with some plantings in Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. In Germany it is mainly found in Pfalz and Baden regions with some hectares in Rheinhessen, too. Rieslaner is a fairly vigorous variety and is quite sensitive to drought and ripens late. Sometimes it is left to ripen fully and being prone to botrytis their TBA (Trockenbeerenausleese) wines are really exeptional. Rheinhessen is known for its crisp, dry Rieslaners with notes of peaches, apricots and apples. In Pfalz and Baden, the wines are more aromatic, with a rounder body and a more intense fruit character. Rieslaner pairs well with light seafood dishes, salads, and white meat dishes. The wine also goes well with Asian cuisine and can be enjoyed with spicy dishes.
Rieslaner is a cross between Silvaner and Riesling, two of Germany's most renowned white grape varieties.
