Maresco

Maresco

Maresco, also known as Maruggio, is an ancient white grape variety native to the Valle D'Itria in the provinces of Bari, Brindisi, and Taranto. The name 'Maresco' combines 'Mar' from Maruggio and 'fresco' for its characteristic high acidity. Although not officially recognized until 2011, the grape has been cultivated locally for centuries, often alongside other varieties in polyvarietal vineyards. It is particularly suited for dry white wines and sparkling wines due to its balance of alcohol, structure, and refreshing acidity.

COLOR, AROMAS & TASTE PROFILE

Maresco wines are a pale straw-yellow with golden reflections. They offer moderate aromatic complexity with fruity and floral notes. The wine is well-structured, with good alcohol content and a persistent, balanced taste, highlighted by its crisp acidity, making it ideal for both still and sparkling wines.
