Kolindrino
Kolindrino is an exceptionally rare red grape variety from northern Greece, also known as Kolindros. Likely named after a municipality, its exact origin and parentage remain unknown. It is cultivated in small quantities in the Macedonian region, southwest of Thessaloniki. The first attempts at vinification have produced robust, full-bodied wines with deep color and strong character.
Kolindrino wines are deeply colored, full-bodied, and structured. While detailed sensory profiles are still emerging, the wines are known for their robustness and intensity.
Kolindrino is grown in very limited quantities in northern Greece, particularly in the Macedonian region. Its rarity and lack of widespread cultivation make it one of the lesser-known indigenous Greek varieties.
Kolindrino remains largely undiscovered outside of Greece, with very few producers working with the grape.
Its potential for high-quality, powerful wines is only beginning to be explored.
