It is known for its medium ripening period and high yields but is sensitive to powdery mildew (oïdium). Kapitan Jani Kara is primarily grown in the Sudak region of Crimea, particularly in the Solnechnaya Dolina (Sun Valley) area. The grape is mainly used in blends with other local varieties, such as Ekim Kara, to produce sweet dessert wines.
Kapitan Jani Kara wines are full-bodied and characterized by soft tannins. The wines produced from this grape are often deep in color, with a smooth texture and rich flavor. Due to its use in blends, the grape contributes to the complexity and smoothness of dessert wines, especially in the well-known Chorny Doctor wine.
