It contains genes from both Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The variety is primarily cultivated in the Mendoza region of Argentina, with small plantings in Morocco. The name 'Caberinta' combines 'Cabernet' and 'INTA', reflecting its origins. It is a high-yielding vine that produces acidic red wines.
