Blanqueiro

Blanqueiro

Blanqueiro is a rare white grape variety found mainly in the Alpes Maritimes, with only about 0.5 hectares planted. It is one of the secondary varieties used in the production of white and rosé wines in the Bellet appellation. Blanqueiro is typically blended with other varieties such as Chardonnay, Muscat Blanc, Clairette, Mayorquin, and Bourboulenc to create dry white wines and aromatic rosé wines.

COLOR, AROMAS & TASTE PROFILE

Blanqueiro wines are known for their citrus and floral aromas in white wines, and spiced, powerful fragrances in rosé wines. The white wines are dry, with a balanced alcoholic structure. For high-quality fruit, it is important to harvest Blanqueiro at perfect maturity and age the wine until March of the following year.

REGIONAL FEATURES

Blanqueiro is authorized for use in the Bellet region of Provence, where it contributes to both white and rosé wine production. It is a medium to late ripening grape variety and is rarely planted outside the region.
