Fortified Wine
Fortified wines offer a broad range, from dry to luxuriously sweet, and from pale straw yellow to tawny in color. Port, Sherry, Marsala and Madeira are just a few examples. Whether fermentation is stopped by adding a spirit to result in a style with residual sugar, or the spirit is added post-fermentation, they all have one thing in common: they have all experienced the addition of spirit at some point. The result? A wine that seems timeless, with amazing aging potential and an incredibly complex character, regardless of its style.
