The nose is dense and rich, with a rich array of fruit notes, consisting of cherry, blackberry, and stewed tomato, with a touch of cranberry and smoke. On the palate, the fruit is more pronounced, with a strong tannic presence, but the comprehensively flavor profile is still predominantly red fruit, with a slightly less black fruit character than the nose suggests. The oak and tobacco hints add depth and complexity, but the tail is relatively short and lacks the nuance of a right bank Bordeaux or Northern Rhône in the same price range. Worth the investment, but not a stellar in the same price range as a high-end Bordeaux or Rhône.
